
Marco Baccini
Marco Baccini is a Programme Manager for the Small Arms Survey. He leads multiple projects and provides specific support in the field of WAM. His work focuses on good governance of arms and ammunition throughout their management cycle, including the establishment of relevant national frameworks, processes and practices for safe and secure production and acquisition of materiel, stockpiling, transfers, end-use control, tracing and disposal.
Before joining the Survey, he served as a fulltime Officer in the Swiss Armed Forces under operational control of EUFOR and contributing in the coordination of BiH’s and the IC’s efforts to reduce the amount of dangerous surplus of Ammunition, Weapons and Explosives (AWE) stockpiles and establish a sustainable “Life Cycle Management”. Prior to that, he served for several years as UN Military Expert on Mission (UNMEM) in Peacekeeping Operations, ranging from the Middle East, Western Balkans, and Africa to Asia.
As per ongoing Swiss military conscript duties, he provides training and mentoring to military and civilian personnel about to deploy to peace keeping operations.
Holding a MSc in Security, Conflict and International Development issued by the department of criminology at the University of Leicester.
